Friends of River X: Msg for you

Posted: April 10, 2010 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

Easy access, that is:

Bear writes into me today to inform me that the local newspaper near River X is calling for access closure on the top end after this weekend through November.

You wanna fish up high? Take a long walk. Hell, I’ve done it. I’m down.

The fish counts are through the roof so it should be worth the hike. But you can still drive there today and tomorrow.

Well, we still know a few other access point other than walking all the way in from the bottom. Anyone up for a trip tomorrow?

I think that closing that access is a very poor idea. The infrastructure is already there and it makes a natural spot for a lot of fisherman that don’t like to or are unable to do long hikes. For the money that is paid for licenses it seems like it would be worth retaining the access.

Nookslayer….I think Sal is interested in fishing tomorrow. I am floating a river for steelhead tomorrow closer to home.

They will be closing the access just till they are done with removal, the Watershed group will be in charge of the access once the removal is complete. For now though only the hard core will make the to and from, although I think this fishery is going to go to hell in a hand basket for a while, so I guess there will be some easterly travels for this guy. Anyone going to join Bear on a couple of long walks on big D to the east. My new home water for a season.

Oh and if you head out this way feel free to give me a call, I will give you the up to date info.
