J Blaze goes single-stack

Posted: September 16, 2010 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

I’ve been wanting to introduce my man Josh “J Blaze” Colkitt for a while now.

He’s newer to our river game so please prop him for being only one year into this with some great accomplishments already.

He’s seen above in a photo with MME from a trip with Da Cat for spring chinook this year.

Here is a double submission for both the fillet photo contest as well as the whack n stack.

Here is J Blaze’s fat ‘single stack’ from trolling the big river the other day out of the 13 footer.

Dumptruck, that boat in the background is a friends. He’s got a new 20hp electric start which makes it move fairly quickly, and it’s nice having it fire up instantly if needed to move away from any bigger wake when on the C.

If you’re going to anchor yours up out on the C, I’d go with 300ft or rope, not 175. keeps a nice long angle to not pull your bow down. If you’re on the C and anything big rolls by w/ a nasty wake that doesn’t appear evenly spaced out you may want to drop off anchor, just in case you’d like to have control and navigate it?

My 14′ welded has lower sides and has taken wake when the 1st couple were spaced apart, and then one hit that was directly following, closer to the previous wake…my boat dipped down rolling off a bigger wake only to have the next one roll right in. Learning experience for sure.

    MME, when you fishing next?
