TREAT OF THE MONTH: POPS RECALLS THIS 60 PLUS!
A blast from the past. It was two years ago and the fish was 63# and probably a Skeena river spring/summer chinook. It was also a white meated chinook. This is a genetic strain with white meat. According to the locals, somewhere around 30% of their chinooks are "white." Some think they taste better than the red meated type. We actually tried some taste testing of the two and most liked the white best.
I got this fish in May and already that year, a 72# had been boated. A week or so after I got this fish, one of the neighboor guys near where I was staying, landed a 67# fish while fishing solo.
All of these were caught in salt water. I can't imagine trying to fight one of these dudes from the bank.
